Second Friday, sponsored by The Elms Hotel, is a local celebration of the arts.  Beginning at 6 pm on the second Friday of each month (except January & July). This free event includes music, new art exhibitions opening reception, open 3rd Floor Studios and ArtShop.

EXHIBITION: The Art of Emotional Health
Carolyn Forrester creates bold graphic paintings in acrylic that she calls "Emotional Landscapes." Trained as a graphic designer Forrester's current work draws inspiration from a healing system called "The Emotional Matrix of Love and Hate.  Producing her art using the Emotional Matrix as a tool she learned that connecting with herself was the path to connecting with others.  "I know what it's like to feel lonely, unsupported, and disconnected," states Forrester.  "My nature-based art was created to help one pause, feel a sense of peace, and connect with our deepest selves

EXHIBITION: Portraits in Glass
Working in both stained glass and acrylics, Laura Weaver Brooks has always found the human face a fascinating subject.   Ditching tradition, Brooks thought to try making faces in glass rather than paint them on glass, as is traditionally done.  The results are not always what she plans but often a pleasant surprise!

PERFORMANCE: Sara Pate & Ron Hautau
Oxford Natives  Ron Hautau and Sara Pate have been working together, performing and recording, for the last year and a half covering jazz and popular music.  Their performances include artists such as Esperanza Spalding, Michael Jackson, and Sara    Bareilles

The musical performance, sponsored by Jack and Sally Southard, features a different local performer (or group) each month and usually starts at 7:30 pm.  We invite you to see what's new at the Oxford Community Arts Center!
