HALLWAY - Mola Inspired Exhibit: Libby Birch
Elizabeth holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts from the University of Iowa and presently is retired having taught both privately and at Miami University as well as in the Middletown City School District for 35 years. ( K-12 grades, Gifted and Special Needs) She served as Art Director for Middfest International for 30 years. Presently she teaches in the After School Art program at the Oxford Community Arts Center and is a Board Member working on various events sponsored by the center.
Libby chooses to explore various media: watercolor, acrylic, fibers, sculpture and photography. Influences include: children’s art, nature, history and music. Her work is the embodiment of the Eastern ideal of using one’s ability as thinker to reach a place where thought cannot penetrate. She finds beauty in the silence and stillness of the world. Nature based experiences provide a reassurance of the continuing line of life before and after her. The subjects for her paintings are influenced by ideas that originate from what she sees in her mind, her religious experience, her environment.
